Amerigroup Maryland Members Increase Use of Wellness Services through MyHealthDirect

Brookfield, WI – February 26, 2013 – MyHealthDirect today announced it has contracted with Amerigroup Community Care of Maryland (Amerigroup Maryland) to develop on-line scheduling with the company’s network providers to improve access to wellness care for Amerigroup Maryland members. Data has shown that the members obtaining well-care appointments through Amerigroup Maryland’s on-line scheduling connectivity initiative have more than doubled their rate of completion with participating providers. In January 2012, Amerigroup Maryland partnered with MyHealthDirect, Inc. to enable its staff to go beyond traditional strategies such as mailers and reminder calls to encourage members to get the care they need. Maryland’s Medicaid Agency directs health plans to encourage use of preventive services for their members. Network providers are making appointments available to Amerigroup Maryland through MyHealthDirect’s scheduling exchange. The health plan’s staff then books well-care appointments through the MyHealthDirect scheduling exchange for members while they have them on the phone. Prior to the deployment of MyHealthDirect, a review of the completion rate of adolescent well-care showed a 30% completion rate for members assigned to participating providers. The same review post-deployment revealed a completion rate of 74% for members who made an appointment through MyHealthDirect with the assistance of Amerigroup Maryland staff.
